The Member of Parliament for Aruu County Hon. Odonga Otto has asked the State Minister for Privatization and Investment Hon. Evelyn Anite to tell the world the names of the ‘mafias’ who are after her life. The legislator’s plea comes barely a day after Anite held a press conference yesterday at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in which she disclosed how mafias within the government were trying to silence her in regards to the Uganda Telecom (UTL) scandal.
In a mocking Tuesday morning tweet, Otto said that the citizens were not bothered by the company’s (UTL) services but the way life changes. ‘“Ugandans don’t care about UTL with alternative and more competitive service providers, rather they care about how the world moves, from “we have maje” to crying foul “I don’t need postmortem if I die.”’ He tweeted referring to Anite’s statement a few years back during the controversial amendment of the Age Limit Bill.
“Mention those names you live life once ask Kirumira.” Anite is not the first high profile Ugandan to complain about mafias in the government. She joins a list of other prominent people like former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, former Presidential spokesperson Tamale Mirundi, State Minister for ICT Hon. Aida Nantaba, former Buyende DPC Late Mohammed Kirumira among others.
