Muhoozi warns People Power off the Red Beret

Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has laughed at Robert Kyagulanyi’s pressure group People Power over what he referred to as trying to copy him. In a tweet on his official twitter handle, the former commander of the elite Special Forces and first son says it was him who introduced the beret in Uganda before the group adopted the idea.

“‘People Power’ we just laugh! You’ve always tried to be like me but you can’t. Copying my beret that I introduced to the UPDF, poorly trying to copy me. Why don’t you coin your own beret? The maroon/red beret is ours. Muhoozi and Afande Saleh!” he tweeted. This is not the first time Gen. Muhoozi has found himself on the opposite side with the People Power movement as he recently mentioned his willingness to meet with his former friend Bobi Wine and have some discussions for the good of Uganda.

It should also be noted that last year, the army warned the Pressure group on the continued use of the beret saying they risk to be arrested branding it as part of the army attire not to be uses by civilians. However, the group paid a deaf ear to the warnings and continue to don the cap up to now.
