Fans and supporters of musician turned legislator Bobi Wine aka Robert Kyagulanyi have failed to agree with him over the planned Namboole Boycott following two failed attempts by the singer to hold his Kyarenga Concert at Namboole.
According to a brief post he made on his facebook page, Bobi Wine has termed the planned action as an “act out of anger”. He further adds that; “Uganda Cranes is our national team in which we should always take pride and support with all our abilities. These young men, just like most of us work hard to raise our flag high using their talent even when they are insufficiently facilitated.”
While some fans supported Bobi Wine’s view, some were not convinced with his words and vowed to go on with the planned boycott. Some cited that they are not boycotting Uganda Cranes but Mandela National. A few hours later after Bobi’s message, one of his top Social Media guns Ashburg Katto posted on facebook calling for the same boycott. The fans maintain that they will watch the match on their TV sets and in bufundas but not at Namboole.
It should be remembered that Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga Concert which was originally slated for 20th this month was postponed to 9th November after the management informed the event organizers that they had a wedding on the same date. To the fans’ disappointment, even the new date was scrapped off after FUFA (the Football Body in Uganda) raised concern about the standard of the stadium ahead of its forthcoming CAF match a week later.
