As the 2021 General Elections draw closer, the heat is rising as different individuals come out to show interest in different political posts. The latest is political analyst Charles Rwomushana who has today through his lawyers expressed interest to contest for the highest office in the land.
“In compliance with Section 3 of the Presidential Elections Act 2005 I have officially introduced myself to the Election Commission as an aspiring presidential candidate for 2021 General Elections” Rwomushana said. In a letter dated 22nd of June 2020, his lawyers Mujurizi, Alinaitwe & Byamukama Advocates requested for the Commission’s permission to consult throughout the country.
“Hon. RWOMUSHANA CHARLES intends to carry out nation-wide consultations, prepare his manifesto and other campaign materials, raise funds for his campaign through lawful means and convene meetings of national delegates” reads part of the document.
The letter further seeks guidance from the commission on how to go with the exercise. “In Light of Ministry of Health guidelines/presidential directives on Covid 19, we seek your indulgence and or guidance on how best our client shall carry out country wide consultations”.
